Outrigger Academy was first concepted as an idea back in 2002. At the time I was heavily involved in Outrigging (Waka Ama) from a competitive perspective on a National level. Immediately I noticed the potential in Outrigging due to the many positive aspects it provided myself and fellow paddlers alike; from the physical benefits of a low impact sport to the competitive nature of healthy competition. Outrigging has alot to offer. In my years of dedication to the sport I have been lucky to travel around the world to various countries to compete on an international level, including countries such as Australia, Tahiti, Hawaii, America and South Africa to name a few.

    Our Goal:
To provide introductory level training through to club competence level in Outrigger Canoeing, via a progressive system of structured training modules designed to provide all the safety awareness skills, technique development, physical conditioning, and MOST IMPORTANTLY... all the FUN of an adventure water sport.

    Who is it for:
It is a program designed for anyone, (including people with disabilities) to develop water safety and a healthy awareness for the sport of Outrigger canoeing & Dragon boating. The program looks to promote a Team Sport, Cultural engagement, Injury Prevention, and structured Water Safety.
